Interview with Kylie - the winner of CBHS 2013 Inspiring health story

05 October, 2014

Recently, we ran a competition through our CBHS Facebook page titled ‘Share Your Inspiring Health Story from 2013’, and we would like to say a huge congratulations to our winner Kylie!

Kylie’s inspirational story revolved around her recovery from a serious car accident, in which her stationary car was rear-ended by a car going over a 100km/hr. At the time of the accident she thought she had walked away unscathed, however a few hours later the damage made itself known. Suffering from what is classified as ‘severe whiplash’, the muscles in her neck and back region were torn away from her spine.

This necessitated an intensive 18 months in physiotherapy, during which time she progressed from strength to strength with determination and positivity. At the start of her program she could barely lift her 6 year old son, and now she’s able to carry 6ft tall adult men through obstacle courses for charity. As well as providing Kylie with access to physio and personal training, which were covered by her health insurance cover, CBHS also helped Kylie to achieve the lifestyle change of quitting smoking, which has had a hugely positive impact on her rehabilitation and general wellbeing.

Kylie’s health goals for 2014 are to become more involved in charity events such as fun runs, and to regain her fitness from where she was at the end of last year before taking off 6 weeks from training over Christmas. However, her ultimate goal that she is working towards is to participate in all 12 of the annual charity fun runs/marathons that are being held next year. This will require a lot of training, perseverance and dedication on her part – and is an amazing thing to do for the community.

For those who are currently suffering from a severe and/or debilitating injury or illness, Kylie had the following advice to help:

“Don’t give up, and surround yourself with people who support and love you”.

Kylie also said of CBHS in her prize-winning entry “It’s amazing what a little determination and a lot of support can achieve”.

What Our Members Think

I've not long joined CBHS from another fund, but so far I've been impressed by the super helpful and friendly staff, the higher claim limits and rebates at a very competitive premium, and how easy it is to lodge manual claims through the app. Thanks CBHS - you've won me over! 😃

What Our Members Think

I have been with CBHS since I began at CBA 15 years ago...Now I have three beautiful children, one who has a disability. Our top extras cover has been really essential for his early intervention. I do love the ease of claiming online.

What Our Members Think

I am relatively new to CBHS and am loving it already. I worked for a CBA subsidiary a long time ago but was still eligible to join. So much better that the for-profit funds - our premium is only a little more and we pay a lower co-contribution and get great benefits. I am loving the massage rebate for my partner and gym rebate for me!

What Our Members Think

I'm extremely happy with CBHS! I have been a customer for about six years. I think the price is reasonable. And i would refer you to my family and friends any day. Thank you CBHS!!!

What Our Members Think

Love CBHS as I never have to doubt that they've got my back when I need it. Been through other insurers who have limited options or limits, yet cost the same or more.
