Valentine's Day is traditionally about you and that special someone, but what if that special someone was you? We’d like to invite you to put that tender loving care towards yourself this year.
1. Nourish your body
It can be a struggle to find the motivation to cook for one so why not show your body some love with one of our home cooked recipes. Nothing says I love you like a home cooked meal and we have a tonne to share with you. They’re packed full of the nutrients your body needs to feel replenished and satisfied. Not only are the recipes delicious, they’re comprised of whole food groups based on the CSIROs scientifically formulated diet.
2. Get out in nature
It's no secret that being out in nature can have tremendous benefits for your overall health and wellbeing. When most of our lives are spent indoors and sedentary, it's important to set aside some you-time to get outside and get moving. Here are some tips about how to make the most of your time outdoors.
3. Take a tech time-out
Information overload? On Valentine's Day, focus on making it about you, not the outside world. We highly recommend switching that phone to airplane mode and filling your day with practical activities. Not only will this leave you feeling relaxed, it will also get you moving. Whether it’s spending quality time with loved ones (pets included) or running yourself a bubble bath after a stroll in the park, your mind will truly thank you for a much-needed tech time-out.
4. Declutter your fridge
When you open your fridge, are your groceries giving you that spark of joy? Or do you feel a slight knot in the pit of your stomach? In keeping with Marie Kondo's hit Netflix series Tidying Up, we want you to declutter your fridge of anything that doesn't spark joy. Processed foods - we're looking at you. In turn this will leave you feeling productive, proud and ready to start your journey to a healthier, happier you.
5. Positive Self Talk
Are you not quite where you thought you'd be this Valentine's day? Change is a fickle thing, and when one door closes another will open. So, if you find yourself being a bit of a 'Negatron', try to practice mindfulness. By catching yourself in moments of negative self-talk and choosing to actively think the opposite, you will do wonders for your mood. Remember you’re doing your best! Turn things around and list three things you love about yourself and post them on your bathroom mirror or fridge to remind you every day.
6. Treat yourself
Why not make yourself a delicious treat? It is Valentine's Day after all. The CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet 12-week program has hundreds of healthy scrumptious dessert recipes to choose from. Here's our mouth-watering lemon ricotta cheesecake with blueberries to start.
