Getting less social this Christmas
Want to have a mentally healthy Christmas? You might want to put a ho-ho-hold on your social media exposure.
(That’s our last ho-pun, we swear.)
One study has showed that limiting social media to 30 minutes a day can lead to better wellbeing.
Study: NO MORE FOMO: LIMITING SOCIAL MEDIA DECREASES LONELINESS AND DEPRESSION
What can I do to limit my social media usage?
The three best methods are:
- Delete, delete, delete – get rid of the apps that you use the least, and keep the ones that give the most meaning (Insta if you’re a photo freak, Facebook for your family and friends, and so on).
- Make it difficult – how often would you check your feeds if you had to login every time you wanted to check them? Making the easy hard will form an irritating deterrent to constant usage.
- Time yourself – 30 minutes is a long, long time. Keep an eye on the clock or take notes on how long you’ve been scrolling.
Have a safe and (mostly) social media free holiday!
